LISELLI

ART&SCENOGRAPHY

ARTIST BIO

Liselli is a French-Trinbagonian artist and scenographer based in Norway. Her practice is both narrative and participatory in nature. Collaborating with others and the discussions that ensue is important in her projects. She has previously worked as a scenographer for Film & Tv where collaboration, storytelling and world-building were major aspects of her practice there.

As an artist working with space, she wishes to continue building worlds, which she likens to perspectives, for imagining sustainable futures together.

She is interested in ecology, traditional crafts, botany, indigenous knowledge, rituals, and draws inspiration from ecological artists (Thierry Boutonnier, Reiko Gotto), participatory practices such as the Future Library project in Oslo and the Forest Encounters European project, and ‘eco-critique’ literature (Le Guin, Mc Farlane, Sheppard).

ARTIST STATEMENT

As an artist and scenographer, I like to tell stories through my work, and explore the connections they create, towards one larger narrative; a bigger picture of some kind, made up of intra-connected ecosystems of thoughts, ideas and perspectives.

Using storytelling as my framework to find the meeting place(s) between narrative and world-building, I want to further explore these connections, and these ‘big pictures’ that they create, in the hope of imagining different futures together.

I use space, stories and the perspectives these give as my materials. By focusing on the things that connect us to one another, the things we (as inhabitants of this world, both human and different-from-human) have in common, I want to emphasise the social trust needed to build sustainable futures together, over the long-term.
