MASTER PROJECT SPRING 1- tutor meetings

TUTOR MEETING 2 - 29.02.24

Contracts
- clear what positions are : because it’s a school project, there should be room for me to have a say, if a decision is better for the masters then I have to be able to have room to decide, I have different considerations to make, as it’s my masters I need to do things in a particular way, need an exit way to do the things I need to do them

- tree-time  bit is more ‘Liz’ time, since this is my perspective of what ‘tree-time’ is. WHAT IS MY PERCEPTION OF TREE-TIME, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THIS IS PRACTICED
- some things are really slow, some are really fast
- we humans are also part of nature, so in a way it’s like nature sitting by a tree
- re-define tree-time, more specific, what it means, what are the implications of slowing down, what does it mean this slowing down.
- judith butler: the force of non-violence (how far can we go being non-violent), this is similar how far should we live by this tree-time (if that’s the definition) she interrogates non-violence by going depper, allowing for the interrogation to be unrealistic too, by going deeper.
- tree-time: the tree doing the right thing at the right moment (the flowers are blooming at that point because that’s hen there’s enough sun etc...)
- be clear of what my intention is with tree-time: what is the research question? what am I looking for?
Theoretical
- go more theoretical into it
- theories that help me to dig deeper/re-define tree-time so that people know what they’re coming to, and so they know where I stand
- the three ecologies, felix guattari
- my position is like a researcher- the tree walk is like a research project. it’s like fieldwork in relation to the bigger MP. use their knowledge and input to workshops as my research (which can be quoted to suit). also good for them to know that I’m going to use their work as research for MP.
- take a step to analyze what it means, in an academic way, to take a critical perspective without thinking that the project should be changed.
- what do we want to slow down and how, what kind of slowness.
- the in-sync/tuning in is ‘more important’ than slowing down, but it still is about time.
