MASTER PROJECT SPRING 1- tutor meetings

TUTOR MEETING 1 - 02.02.24

what i need help with :
  •  to define the project in a simple way so I could talk to people I would like to collaborate with,
  • devleop the master project spring project (a part of the production course? a pre-production artist book? documenting process as a film and artist book? like the scott hunter minifilms?)
- I would like to use publishing/artist books as a way to contextualize my project

- try to reformulate the research question

- ask concrete, specific questions to the people i want to collaborate with, find a simple way to talk about it

- step back, be open to where the initial ideas lead me, initial ideas meet reality /physical reality of the place but also reality basd on the knowledge of the people)

- so for ex: I’m an artist wanting to plant a forest at Losæter for an art project and I need to know how to plant trees from seeds. art in public space, tree sas a work of art (something that makes them curious but that is related to their field).

- take things in steps_ the seeds as a way to communicate, maybe finding the seeds is enough? maybe concentrate on one tree that resonated with me? or what that tree has been spectator to speaks to me the most? seed-walk: going picking for seeds on the ground.

-storytelling: which perspectives, social, historical, of human perspectives? this is still a very human way of looking at more than human perspectives (through the eyes of a tree, eyes are a human feature, how do trees see?)
NARROW THIS DOWN

- MAKE IT ABOUT THE MORE-THAN-HUMAN PERSPECTIVES ONLY: how do trees see? what do they notice and how? for ex: change in the quality of air over time? why? more and more acid rain? why? ARE THESE THE STORIES TO BE TOLD?

-can still visualie the future, just apply the same senses onto that future tree.

- archive of images of trees from the past of that area? maps?

- wildlife camera? placing a camera in a tree just to test?

- FIND A TREE NERD- Zoe?

- have visuals, sketches, meet the people with practical information for what I’m doing and their interests, and viualize, do sketches or whatever of what the trees have been spectator to- what they have noticed- what they ‘see’.
To do:
- test filming out at losæter for a few weeks, what camera type?
- walk around Losæter and get a sense of the place and area around it.
-go back there with zoe and talk about what the trees have ‘seen’, ‘se mettre dans la peau de’,  what they communicate and age of the tree
- talk to Mari again about an evt collaboration?
- call the seed guy for info about tree seeds and seed storage
- call the efferius people about tree planting/learning to grow sapplings
- contact permaculture society
- answer NB
- contact norsk botanisk forening for historical kartlegging of fauna/flora of the area
