MASTER PROJECT AUTUMN 1-process

SCULPTURE- first test 6.10.23
- hung up cotton yarn as the warp, cardboard at the bottom. the warp isn’t super tight.

- need a better lightbulb/stronger lamp?, meeting with Kaja 12.10 about lights.

- the lichen is casting shadows

- should I try to ‘sculpt’ it to look like a guardian of the forest face? OR do a randomized sculpture and see what I end up with ?

MEETING WITH KAJA 12.10.23
- need a lyskaster, Kaja lent me one to test
- it needs to stand on the floor: limits the height of the sculpture a bit? maybe that’s just nice to have the ‘book’ on the ground, different angle and people can see the stories in a different way?

- have to play with the distance, the further away the bigger the shadow, the closer the smaller the shadow.

- OBS this will affect how people interact with it!

MORE TESTING WITH THE LIGHT FROM KAJA - 15.11

- The light was at 3m away and worked pretty well

- still don’t know yet if this is going to be on the floor or on a table

- if on a table, maybe bring in leaves to make a ‘bed’?

BOOK-MAKING- workshop w Vibeke - ideas of books
- concertina book? allows for reading the stories on the installation?
- in a circle like picture below? circular motion = idea that folk stories have no beginning or end, they are continuously re-told and passed on?
- have a look at moodboard pages for more installation ideas?

COLLECTION OF STORIES
Social Media - link to the google form for collection of stories was shared on social media. a separate link for more info about the project was also available.

- two FB events where people were invited to partake in sharing their stories
- using Fett Tidsskrift social media to get stories
- sending out via email
Storytelling dinners - invite 3-4 people to dinner and ask them. Open day at KHIO - table with large sheet of paper on which people can write down their description/draw it, in exchange for brownies.

- lots of stories/small descriptions and some drawings. very effective, was also fun to engage with people and hear their stories (some stories they told me I wished they also wrote down!)
